Police men who had gone undercover as part of an operation to counteract heating equipment being stolen from buildings under renovation have been a success. They efficiently captured three men from Burnley who supplied them boilers and Designer radiators within a scrap metal trick.
The metal thieves, who made an effort to sell Bathroom furniture value greater than £6,000, have shown up before Burnley Magistrate’s court after being caught red-handed by police who secured the operation this past year.
But the defence solicitor asked the tactics employed by the officers to trap the accused.
The court heard that the trip of robbers had been approached while walking down the street and presented money for anything they could find.
The Prosecutor on the other hand said more than £8,000 worth of boilers and other associated products, like copper piping and fireplaces and Towel radiators were handed over by the three.
One of the culprits had performed 85 previous violations, primarily thefts, but the other two men only had juvenile reprimands or warnings on their records.
